Do you want a vision screening or an eye exam? When you have an eye exam, it includes our Costa Mesa vision test, but is more comprehensive. Here at Jeffrey H. Brown Optometry, our goal is to promote your optimal vision, and also your eye health.
Our Costa Mesa vision test begins with the familiarity of having you read from an eye chart, and also using various strength lenses to determine how well you see at different levels. Do you have an existing pair of eyeglasses or contact lenses? If so, you should bring them in so that you can be tested both with and without them. You may need to have your prescription updated in order to account for changes to your visual needs that have taken place since your glasses or contacts were made. Of course, if you don’t wear corrective lenses now, it might be the right time for you to take advantage of them. Unless you’re seeing your best, there is room for improvement. That’s the goal of our Costa Mesa vision test. Expanding to a complete eye exam means also checking you for the presence of any of the most common eye diseases. Among them are glaucoma and cataracts, which can affect anyone, at any age. Also, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration will be part of the exam, if either or both of them are applicable to you. All of the listed diseases share a common trait, which is that they form and progress through their early stages without any noticeable symptoms. And for that reason alone, you should come in for our Costa Mesa vision test, including a full eye exam, once per year. Early detection is associated with the best outcomes.
